Cheilanthes

  • Cheilanthes argentea

    Family : Pteridaceae.

    Silver cloack fern.

The lamina is matt green, broadly triangular with extended lowest inner pinnules, making them almost pentagonal. The reverse side is cloaked with a beautifull white wax, which is very visible in case of drought, when the fronds roll up. It needs a chalky soil, well-drained, in sun. It is suitable in a rockery. Evergreen. Height : 20cm. Hardiness : -22°C.
