Asplenium

Asplenium is a large genus of more than 700 species and hybrids, of subcosmopolitan distribution. Asplenium is a genus characterized by linear sori arranged along veins, and protected with a lateral indusium. Most of the species are evergreen, and many of them grow in chalky and well drained soils. The species are various like Asplenium scolopendrium and Asplenium trichomanes.

    Differs from the species, by the fans of crested foliage at the apex. Glossy brown stipes and rachis. Narrow, once pinnate blades are linear with 20 or 30 pairs of round to oblong, matt green pinnae; forming dense rosettes. Sori and indusia are arranged in a herringbone pattern. Plant in a chalky or acidic, well-drained soil in shade or medium shade. Evergreen. Height : 5/20cm. Hardiness : -30°C.

     Differs from the species, by its pinnules regularly incised, and the fans of crested foliage at the apex. Glossy brown stipes and rachis. Narrow, once pinnate blades are linear with 20 or 30 pairs of round to oblong, matt green pinnae; forming dense rosettes. Sori and indusia are arranged in an Herringbone pattern. Plant in a chalky or acidic, well drained soil in shade or medium shade. Evergreen. Height : 5/20cm. Hardiness : -30°C.
