Epilithic or terrestrial fern. The fronds are dimorphic, pinnatifid, undulate, on a thick, creeping rhizome. In spring, the crosiers appear pink-orange and unfurl in upright, light green fronds, of 25/30cm height, or in basal fronds, shorter and sessile. According to Flora of China, sometimes basal fronds are absent. In autumn, the two types of fronds turn brown and persist. This Drynaria must be grown in a well drained soil, in light shade. Hardiness : -8/-10°C.
