Native to the chalky swamplands of Louisiana. It is dimorphic. The steriles fronds are arching, glossy, dark green. The fertiles fronds are erect, taller, with reduced pinnae in the upper part. The rhizome is creeping. It needs moisture, chalky or acidic soils in light shade or shade. Semi-evergreen. Height : 60/120cm. Hardiness : -22°C.
