This species forms a graceful upright clump with bipinnate, broadly triangular pinnae. The rhizome is erect. The stipes are covered with dark brown scales. The young crosiers unfurl early in spring. It likes a cool to moist soil, acidic or alkaline, in shade or light shade. Semi-evergreen. Height : 60/90cm. Hardiness : -20°C.
