 The triangular fronds are bipinnate, evergreen, fresh green, in regular clumps, on an upright rhizome. Stipes and croziers are covered with black scales. Sori are under the upper third of the fronds. Croziers are unfurling early, at the end of winter. It is an easy-to-grow and strong species. The leathery fronds persist all winter. This mountain fern enjoys cool or moist soils, acidic or calcareous, in shade. Height and width : 60cm. Hardiness : until -30°C.
